Eugene’s first-ever Asian Night Market brought people to the Downtown East Park Block from 5:00-10:00 pm to enjoy an evening of cultural performances, Asian food booths/trucks, and an artisan marketplace. A block away, the Night Market extended to the Broadway Metro where two Asian film showings delighted audiences of all ages. The last showing drew a capacity crowd.
The evening celebrated Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and we were delighted by the show of support from those who came downtown to share this evening with us. Both traditional and contemporary performances took the stage, and the aroma of street foods was intoxicating. Our artisans offered an array of handmade and imported items, which added to the festive atmosphere. Even nearby restaurants were appreciative of the increased number of customers the event brought to their business.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 30, 2022, when you can see an expansion of the Asian Night Market at our flagship event – the Oregon Asian Celebration and Obon & Taiko Drumming Festival at Alton Baker Park. For details, visit AsianCelebration.org.
