The public is invited to the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Commemoration on Wednesday, August 6, at 7 p.m. at Alton Baker Park’s Peace Pavilion. Experience taiko drumming, Obon dancing, and a lantern ceremony at dusk to honor the victims of the atomic bombings 81 years ago and to call for peace. Eugene Mayor Kararin Knudson will be the featured speaker.
In recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage (AAPI) Month, the 5th annual “Asian Night Market” returns on Friday, May 22nd with a colorful evening of cultural performances, savory Asian street foods, youth activities, and a vibrant marketplace at the Eugene Farmers Market Pavilion & outdoor Plaza (8th & Oak Sts). Admission is free for all ages.
The Asian American Council of Oregon (AACO) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has unanimously upheld the pretrial detention of a defendant charged in a series of racially targeted burglaries against Asian American families.
