In celebration of the Year of the Horse 2026, you are invited to submit horse-themed artwork to be shown at the February 6th First Friday ArtWalk/Lunar New Year Celebration, at the Farmers Market Pavilion (85 E 8th Ave) in Downtown Eugene.
This event is co-sponsored by Lane Arts Council and the Asian American Council of Oregon.
Open to all high school students and adult community members in the area.
– One art entry per artist
– 2D work only. Any medium.
– Dimensions: Maximum finished size: 20×24 inches, (ideally framed or mounted on foam board)*
– *if this a barrier, please let us know, and Lane arts Council may be able to help with mounting on foam board.
Awards:
The public is invited to cast two votes:
– One vote for the People’s Choice Award, from either General Category or High School Category
– One vote for the High School Category.
– People’s Choice Award would be given to the artwork with the most votes.
First Prize $100, second Prize $50
– High School Category Award: First Prize: $50
– In addition to the above mentioned prizes, winners will receive a complimentary Membership to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art
Display:
All artwork properly mounted or framed will be shown at the event on Feb. 6, 2026.
Any artwork that is deemed inappropriate in content will be disqualified.
The winning entries will be included in the Asian Celebration Art Exhibit at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in summer 2026 (date TBD), and considered for use on the 2026 Asian Celebration poster celebrating the theme, “Year of the Horse.”

Submissions are accepted from: Tuesday-Friday, January 20th-23rd, 2026,12-5pm
Art work pickup: Monday-Tuesday, February 9th-10th, 2026, 12-5pm.
