Demonstration of Kurinuki means “to hollow or carve out” and is an ancient Japanese pottery technique that takes a block of clay and is formed using your hands and a couple of tools to hollow out and carve the clay to create a unique, natural, and spontaneous piece such as a tea bowl that bears the maker’s marks. Come see how it’s done to create a simple object of beauty.
